Market Department Head, Full Charge Bookkeeper, & Sales Associate
MARKET DEPARTMENT HEAD
Reporting to the General Manager, the Market Department Head is responsible for ensuring The Market reaches sales goals, maintains adequate staffing, and practices exemplary customer service. The Market Department Head will supervise day-to-day activity in a rapidly growing sales department. They will also be responsible for purchasing quality merchandise for the department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day flow of the department
- Organize and oversee scheduling within the department
- Maintain positive relationships with employees and the customer base while setting the example of customer service
- Operate a point-of-sale cash register to process sales and returns
- Receive new merchandise and display it in an attractive and easy-to-shop manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills with customers and employees
- Excellent leadership and management skills
- Able to work independently and also be a team player
- Flexibility in all areas, including but not limited to: work schedule, duties and responsibilities, extreme weather conditions, etc.
- Able to count money and make change, having a good knowledge of basic mathematics
- Able to type alphanumeric characters accurately
- Know market trends and know when seasonal merchandise needs to be put on the sales floor
- Able to manage a spending budget
Education & Experience Requirements
- At least two years of retail experience
- Excellent computer skills
- Previous experience with point-of-sale systems
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift, pull, push at least 50 lbs
- Able to stand for an extended period of time
Head Cashier
Reporting to the General Manager, the Head Cashier is primarily responsible for day-to-day management of the cashiers. This is a full-time, year-round position that is elegible for all benefits that Martin’s has to offer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Organize and oversee scheduling for all cashiers
Maintain adequate staffing levels at all point-of-sale registers
Motivate employees through positive communicationOperate a point-of-sale register to process sales and returns
Train new employees on point-of-sale register operations
Perform other duties as assigned
