Botanical name: Curio rowleyanus (formerly Senecio rowleyanus). Also called string of beads, string of peas, rosary vine. A native to Africa, the string of pearls is a vining succulent that has the appearance of green pea shaped leaves that spill over its container or hanging basket. Mature plants grow 1-2 feet tall and 1-2 feet long. They create a ground cover when planted in landscapes, and produce white flowers in the spring time that smell like cinnamon. Rarely do they bloom indoors. They like full to partial sun and grows best in USDA zones 9-12. Toxic to humans and pets.
