Opuntia microdasys “Bunny-Ears Cactus”
This species of prickly pear cactus gets its name for its almost comical resemblance to bunny ears. This cactus forms a dense shrub 15″-25″ tall with flat pads that grow 2″-6″ tall and 2″-5″ wide. Instead of spines, this species has glochids, small hair-like spines that grow in dense clusters. Their small yellow flowers appear rarely when grown as a houseplant.
Light Requirements: Bright, indirect light.
Water Requirements: Water once every 1-2 weeks.
Toxic to Pets? No, but glochids (spine clusters) can be irritating to the skin.
