Cucurbita pepo

‘Costata Romanesco’ delivers a manageable harvest of high-quality, fluted fruits with complex flavor and firm texture. The striped and mottled skin stays tender even to 18″, though in Italy they are picked at 4″-5″ with the blossoms still attached. Large production of male blossoms for stuffing. Plants reach up to 2′-3′ tall and 3′-4′ wide. Botanical Interests’® Costata Romanesco Summer Squash Seeds are USDA Organic and have been verified by The Non-GMO Project.

This packet sows up to 6 mounds.

52-60 days to maturity.

Outdoors: Sow 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date, and when soil temperature is 70°–85°F.
Indoors: Sow 2-4 weeks before transplanting, although not recommended except in very short growing seasons, as roots are sensitive to disturbance. Sow in biodegradable pots that can be planted directly into the ground. Transplant when soil temperature is at least 60°F.

What is an heirloom seed?

An heirloom variety is one that has been passed down from generation to generation. Generally, the variety must have been around for at least 50 years. They are open-pollinated, which means they have been exposed to natural pollination methods like insects or winds. They aren’t hybrids or genetically modified.
