Salpiglossis sinuata

Salpiglossis, also called painted tongue, has velvety flowers with metallic coloration and venation that has to be seen to be believed! A gardener in the early 1900s described them as having “bewildering combinations”. Flowers beckon admirers to take a closer look, and are irresistible to butterflies. Performs best in cool weather. An excellent cut flower variety. Plants grow up to 24″-36″ tall and produce flowers that bloom in summer. Prefers full sun exposure. Botanical Interests’® Superbissima Blend Salpiglossis Seeds have been verified by The Non-GMO Project.

Outdoors: Sow 1-2 weeks before your average last frost date. In mild climates, sow in late summer or fall for cool–season blooms.
Indoors: Sow 8-10 weeks before your average last frost date.

What is an heirloom seed?

An heirloom variety is one that has been passed down from generation to generation. Generally, the variety must have been around for at least 50 years. They are open-pollinated, which means they have been exposed to natural pollination methods like insects or winds. They aren’t hybrids or genetically modified.
