Asclepias incarnata

Butterflies and hummingbirds will flock to your garden to feast on the sweet nectar of this easy-to-grow, heirloom perennial. Often called swamp milkweed, this species grows best in moist or wet soils, such as near a pond or stream, but the loosely-clumped plants also grow well in a garden with regular watering. Decorative seed pods are beautiful in dried arrangements. Sap is toxic; avoid eye/skin contact and do not ingest. Perennial in USDA zones 3-6. Plants grow up to 2′-4′ tall on average, but they may reach up to 6′ tall, and produce flowers that bloom in summer. Prefers full sun exposure.
We cannot ship this variety to Hawaii as per state regulations. Please do not order if your shipping address is in these states.

Outdoors: Sow 2-4 weeks before your average last frost date, or in the fall for spring germination.
Indoors: Sow 6-8 weeks before your average last frost date.

What is an heirloom seed?

An heirloom variety is one that has been passed down from generation to generation. Generally, the variety must have been around for at least 50 years. They are open-pollinated, which means they have been exposed to natural pollination methods like insects or winds. They aren’t hybrids or genetically modified.
