‘Black Magic’ makes great dried or cut flowers with vivid dark maroon flowers. Bachelor’s button, also called cornflower, will “naturalize”; it self-sows for another crop of flowers the following season, and birds love the seed heads! Plants grow up to 20″-24″ tall and 12″ wide and produces flowers that bloom in summer. Prefers full sun exposure. Attracts pollinators and is deer resistant. Botanical Interests’® Bachelor Button Black Magic Seeds have been verified by The Non-GMO Project.

Outdoors: Sow 1-2 weeks before your average last frost date, or in late summer/fall for blooms the following season. In mild climates, sow in fall for winter bloom.
Indoors: Sow 4-6 weeks before your average last frost date. Not recommended; does not transplant well. Use biodegradable pots to avoid root disturbance.

What is an heirloom seed?

An heirloom variety is one that has been passed down from generation to generation. Generally, the variety must have been around for at least 50 years. They are open-pollinated, which means they have been exposed to natural pollination methods like insects or winds. They aren’t hybrids or genetically modified.
