Return policy & plant warranty

 

Martin’s Home & Garden Plant Return Policy

At Martin’s Home & Garden, we take pride in offering healthy, high-quality plants. Because plants are living products and their success depends greatly on care and environmental conditions after purchase, our return policy differs from that of traditional retail stores.

Returns

  • A valid receipt is required for all returns.
  • Plants must be returned in the same container and condition in which they were sold.
  • Approved returns will be issued as store credit only. We do not provide cash refunds or refunds to original payment methods.
  • Store credit will be issued for the purchase price shown on the receipt.

Plant Health Guarantee

If a plant fails due to a condition that can be reasonably determined to have been present at the time of purchase or as a result of an error on our part, Martin’s Home & Garden will replace the plant with another plant of equal value.

Replacement requests require:

  • A valid receipt
  • The original plant (or sufficient evidence of the issue, as determined by management)
  • Review and approval by Martin’s Home & Garden staff

What Is Not Covered

Because we cannot control growing conditions after plants leave our nursery, we cannot guarantee plants that fail due to:

  • Improper watering
  • Overwatering or underwatering
  • Poor soil conditions
  • Insect or animal damage
  • Disease contracted after purchase
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Freeze, frost, heat stress, drought, flooding, or storm damage
  • Improper planting or transplant shock
  • Any other factors beyond our control

Seasonal Planting Notice

We do not guarantee plants that are installed or planted outside of their recommended planting season or ideal planting window. Our staff is happy to advise customers on the best planting times for successful establishment.

Dormant Plant Guarantee

Some trees, shrubs, perennials, and other plants may be sold while dormant. Dormant plants may appear lifeless, but are naturally resting until the appropriate growing season.

If a dormant plant fails to leaf out or show signs of growth during its normal growing period, Martin’s Home & Garden may replace the plant with another plant of equal value, provided that:

  • The customer has a valid receipt.
  • The plant was properly planted and cared for according to recommended practices.
  • The plant was planted during the appropriate planting season and under suitable growing conditions.
  • The issue is reviewed and approved by Martin’s Home & Garden staff.

Dormant plants that fail to leaf out due to improper care, neglect, incorrect planting, watering issues, unsuitable site conditions, weather-related damage, or other factors beyond our control are not eligible for replacement, store credit, or refund.

Because plants are living products and their success depends on proper care after purchase, the final determination of eligibility for replacement is at the discretion of Martin’s Home & Garden management.

Warranty is only valid for plants hardy to our zone (zone 7).

Warranty only covers the plant, not the planting supplies.

Martin’s Home & Garden Plant Warranty Package

 

Customers may purchase an optional Plant Warranty Package for eligible trees, shrubs, and hardy perennials.

To qualify for the warranty, customers must purchase all recommended planting products at the time of the plant purchase. Depending on the plant and season, these products may include:

  • Soil conditioner
  • Bio-Tone® Starter Plus or equivalent root starter
  • Tree watering bag if purchasing a tree
  • Any other products specifically recommended by Martin’s Home & Garden staff for successful plant establishment

When all recommended products are purchased and used as directed, the plant will be covered under a one-year replacement warranty beginning on the original purchase date.

Warranty Coverage

If a warranted plant dies within the one-year warranty period despite being properly planted and maintained, Martin’s Home & Garden will provide a one-time replacement plant of equal value.

A valid receipt is required for all warranty claims.

Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does not cover:

  • Plants that were not planted using all recommended warranty products
  • Damage caused by neglect, improper watering, improper planting, or lack of maintenance
  • Mechanical damage, animal damage, vandalism, or construction damage
  • Damage caused by extreme weather events, including drought, flooding, tornadoes, ice storms, or other acts of nature
  • Plants planted outside of recommended planting windows or growing conditions
  • Plants that have been dug up, transplanted, or relocated after installation

Customer Responsibility

Customers are expected to monitor warranted plants and contact Martin’s Home & Garden at the first sign of decline, stress, disease, insect damage, or other health concerns. Our team is happy to provide guidance and recommendations that may help restore the plant’s health and prevent loss.

Warranty claims may be denied if a customer fails to seek assistance until a plant is completely dead or beyond recovery, especially when early intervention could have improved the outcome.

To assist with diagnosis and care recommendations, customers may be asked to provide photographs, plant care information, or allow an inspection by Martin’s Home & Garden staff.

The Plant Warranty Package is intended to support successful plant establishment through proper care and communication between the customer and Martin’s Home & Garden. Prompt attention to plant health concerns is a condition of warranty coverage.

Martin’s Home & Garden reserves the right to inspect or request photographs of any plant submitted for a warranty claim before approving a replacement.

The Plant Warranty Package provides replacement of the plant only and does not cover labor, delivery, installation costs, or any other associated expenses.

All non-perishable item returns are subject to manager approval.
