Reporting to the Administrative Manager, the Accounting Assistant supports the Accounting Department by assisting with processing weekly payroll and accounts payable duties. The Accounting Assistant utilizes QuickBooks and Counterpoint to assist the Accounting Department in the execution of these duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interface, voucher, and import cash and credit sales using inventory software into accounting software
  • Scan and electronically file daily deposit backup
  • Revise journal entry in accounting software to match with drawer history report
  • Create journal for sales tax savings
  • Check all vouchered payables for accuracy
  • Match check payments with vouchered payable that was paid on receipt, and enter payments data into accounting software
  • Pull unpaid bills to match with check run, scan and electronically file bills, and then mail off
  • Enter non-resale payables and credit card transactions into accounting software
  • Prepare and process weekly direct deposit vendor payments
  • Prepare and email payroll summary to management
  • Keep abreast of newest payroll and timekeeping applications
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Proficient in QuickBooks
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to learn new programs quickly
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies and procedures

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred, but not required
  • Must have at a minimum of 3 years in a similar role

Physical Requirements

  • Able to sit or stand for an extended period of time

Reporting to the Administrative Manager, the Full Charge Bookkeeper will be responsible for all bookkeeping duties. The right candidate will have heavy experience managing the financial documents for a small company by maintaining and corroborating the general ledger in addition to maintaining the company’s payroll.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Track charges and refunds
  • Inform management of any deviations from budget
  • Reconcile all revenues with the general ledger
  • Collect and organize invoices and checks
  • Record invoices, checks, account statements, etc. within QuickBooks
  • Pay verified bills for accounts payable
  • Conduct and supervise maintenance of invoice files
  • Process weekly payroll
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to learn new programs quickly
  • Able to adapt to changing job description
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies and procedures

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other relevant field preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years of experience as a full charge bookkeeper

Reporting to the General Manager, the landscape designer is responsible for designing and drawing appropriate landscaping plans. They are expected to have extensive plant knowledge, to maintain a working relationship with local landscapers, and to be professional and courteous at all times.

A portfolio of previous work is required to be submitted with your application.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create landscape designs based on customer input and the needs of the plants
  • Stay up to date on current landscape trends and methods, and effectively implement current design strategies
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with local landscapers while monitoring their quality of work in order to make appropriate recommendations to customers
  • Organize and oversee landscaping projects from start to finish to ensure proper execution
  • Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Able to draw creative landscape designed for a variety of landscape situations
  • Knowledge of general mathematics and construction codes
  • Understanding of long term landscape maintenance
  • Must be self-motivated and have attention to detail
  • Flexibility in all areas, including but not limited to: work schedule, duties and responsibilities, extreme weather conditions, etc.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in an equivalent role – a portfolio of previous work is required to be submitted with application
  • Previous grading and topography experience
  • Excellent computer skills, including previous experience with landscape design software
  • Previous experience with point-of-sale systems

  • Able to lift, pull, push at least 50 lbs
  • Able to sit or stand for an extended period of time
  • Able to work in all types of weather

Reporting to the General Manager, the Market Department Head is responsible for ensuring The Market reaches sales goals, maintains adequate staffing, and practices exemplary customer service. The Market Department Head will supervise day-to-day activity in a rapidly growing sales department. They will also be responsible for purchasing quality merchandise for the department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day flow of the department
  • Organize and oversee scheduling within the department
  • Maintain positive relationships with employees and customer base while setting the example of customer service
  • Operate a point-of-sale cash register to process sales and returns
  • Purchase new merchandise based on the needs of the department
  • Receive new merchandise and display in an attractive and easy-to-shop manner
  • Price items at a profit while also moving inventory to sell
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills with customers and employees
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Able to work independently and also be a team player
  • Flexibility in all areas, including but not limited to: work schedule, duties and responsibilities, extreme weather conditions, etc.
  • Able to count money and make change, having a good knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Able to type alphanumeric characters accurately
  • Have knowledge of market trends and know when seasonal merchandise needs to be put on the sales floor
  • Able to manage a spending budget

Education & Experience Requirements

  • At least one year of management experience
  • At least two years of retail experience
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Previous experience with point-of-sale systems
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Reporting to the department head, Team Leads are responsible for supporting the department head in the day-to-day activities in the department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily tasks
  • Ensure the department’s sales associates are working efficiently
  • Learning the department’s daily tasks to ensure customers are receiving excellent service and the department’s work list is being completed
  • Assist department head with ordering new merchandise
  • If in an outside environment, assist with watering the plant inventory
  • Attend management meetings
  • Help solve employee problems/disagreements amongst employees in the department
  • Maintain intermediate to advanced knowledge of items being sold in the department, and maintain a basic knowledge of items being sold in other departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills with customers and employees
  • Able to lead a team of two to five members effectively
  • Able to work independently and also be a team player
  • Basic knowledge of computers, fax machine, copier/printer, and email, and the willingness and ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technology
  • Flexibility in all areas, including but not limited to: work schedule, duties and responsibilities, extreme weather conditions, etc.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience as a sale associate preferably in a garden center, plant nursery, or gift shop
  • If working in outside department, must be able to maintain at least an intermediate knowledge of department’s plants and their care
  • Able to read an order confirmation and vendor invoice for accuracy of product received
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
  • Able to bend, squat, and reach overhead
  • Tolerant of hot and cold temperatures
